Anne's Journal

Anne in the house at Kam Lake

Welcome to Anne's Journal! This is a picture of me (Anne), taken Christmas Eve '06 at the house on Hudson Avenue out at Kam Lake.

A Brief Bio

I graduated in 1984 from the Design Arts - Weaving & Textiles III program, at the Barrie, Ontario campus of Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology. I worked for a summer at the studio of Beverly and Paul Williams in Bethany, Ontario, where I learned a lot about production weaving. Beverly is quite an accomplished tapestry weaver and she showed me some of her techniques.

I have participated in many craft sales and had my work sold in various craft shops in Ontario and New Brunswick. I'm a member of the Ontario Crafts Council, as well as a former juried member of the New Brunswick Craft Council. Over the years I have been involved in several weaving guilds in Courtenay, BC, Calgary, AB, and Fredericton, NB. I am currently a member of the Yellowknife Guild of Arts and Crafts.

At the moment I have a 4-shaft 45" counterbalance floor loom, a 4-shaft 22" jack table loom, a 22" rigid heddle loom and an inkle loom. I've also done some card weaving and finger weaving. I most enjoy weaving rag rugs. They are comfy to have under foot, yet are quite durable - I'm still using some that I had made 20 years ago!
